This David Hockney very rare vintage 1980 hand signed lithograph print custom framed limited edition iconic Pop Art poster " Skaters-Venice " 1979, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The lithograph print poster is published by Haddad's Fine Arts Inc., California. Printed in The United States in 1980 on the occasion of the " Los Angeles Bicentennial 1781 - 1981 ". It features an iconic artwork image originally created by Hockney in 1979 titled " Skaters-Venice ", copyright 1979 LA200, copyright 1980 Haddad's Fine Arts, Inc., California 92803, U.S.A.
This is a rare opportunity for true Hockney and Pop Art fans and collectors as this coveted image hand signed lithograph print poster is long out of print and very scarce to find. It is hand signed in ink by the artist in the lower right front corner, hand numbered in pencil in the lower left front corner, 188/425 from the signed limited edition of 425.
David Hockney ( B. 1937 ) is an English painter, draftsman, printmaker, stage designer, and photographer. He is an important contributor to The Pop Art Movement of the 1960's. He is considered one of the most influential British artists of The 20th Century. His artworks have commanded greater popular acclaim than any other Contemporary British artist. The Pop Art Expressionist style artworks have been the subject of more than 400 solo exhibitions. Art works by Hockney are included the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
On September 4, 1981, Los Angeles celebrated its Bicentennial, two centuries to the day of the founding of " El Pueblo De Nuestra Senora La Reina De Los Angeles Del Rio Porciuncula " by Spanish-Era settlers, known as " Pobladores ". The anniversary concluded a year-long celebration of the city and its heritage, as a city long accused of not having a history explicitly celebrated it.
To honor the landmark occasion a group of renowned artists were invited to create commissioned artworks to be used as celebratory fine art posters published by Haddad's Fine Arts, Inc. The artists included Ed Ruscha, Saul Bass, Wayne Thiebaud, John Follis, Milton Glaser, Deborah Sussman, and David Hockney among others.
The rare out of print hand signed framed lithograph print poster measures 26 1/8" W X 31 1/2" H X 1 1/2" D.
It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglas in a Contemporary Modern natural oak wood matte eggshell finish museum box style frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " very clean vintage condition consistent with age and very light signs of handling.
