The surface is wonderful, with the gilded grape leaf design clear and bright while showing age and good patina in the best possible way. Clock face has a convex glass cover glass with an interior glass surface with painted numerals. The original movement has been replaced with a modern C battery powered movement which accurately keeps time. less
