Offered is a Stelvia, Textured Glass Decanter in the Pattern, Bird of Peace. Attributed to Wayne Husted. Stelvia is an acronym, S.T.E.L.V.I.A. Stands for Società Toscana Esercizio Lavorazione Vetri Industriali e Artistici. Stelvia was established in the 1950’s, in the Empoli Region of Italy. Wayne Husted is a renowned American glass designer of Danish descent. He is most famous for his work with American company Blenko Glass in the 1950s, where he was head designer. In the 1960s he worked in Italy, and produced his collections under STELVIA. This piece has its original stickers, and apparently Ethan Allen bought these pieces as accessories for their US stores. This collection was sold in Europe and the US. Of note, Picasso did a poster using a similar dove for a World Disarmament Conference in 1962. The embossed textured pattern is a dove, a daisy, and a vine - we hope the pictures do it justice as it is stunning.
