Outstanding tabletop sculpture dated to 1971. Signed to base, but we have not been able to identify the artist.
Intriguing carved female nude sculpture, which appears to be crafted from soapstone. The style is a period perfect blend of Modernism, Brutalist and Ancient with a nod to the Venus of Willendorf. The sculpture is securely mounted to a wood base.
Sculpture alone measures 7"x 3"x 8.5", overall dimensions w/base are 7"x 3.75"x 12.25". In age appropriate condition as seen with negligible tiny scattered scuffs, no chips or cracks. Wood base shows a production/age check to reverse, but everything is solid and stable. Base is marked with an "M" and the date of "71".
