These were listed as Chinese boxes by an auction house. There are many similar blue and white stackable porcelain boxes that are Japanese.

This looks like a true antique, but the age is unknown. It’s pretty tall for a set of stacking boxes. The last photo includes my hand for reference. Other similar boxes are selling for as much as $800 or more. You can do your own research by using my steps described below.
