This lovely federal worktable in mahogany and ebony has gilt brass pulls and paw feet. Originally, work tables were a form of fashionable furniture, used in boudoirs and sitting rooms for ladies. This particular worktable has a top that opens up to a compartment full of assorted box sizes and a pull out reading slope. There are also two other compartments below, most likely used for storing needlework. This exquisite table's deep mahogany color perfectly blends with the ebony trim and gilt brass detailing. It is a lovely piece of history for any home. The bottom base has a knee clearance of 18.5 inches while the base top has a knee clearance of 23.75 inches. Due to the structure of the desk it obstructs ones ability to sit with legs fully under the desk. Weighs approximately 80 lbs. See less
