These were part of the 1974 Kosta Glasbruk factory catalogue. Kosta has since been merged with both Boda (1976) and Orrefors (1989) and the works still produce high quality art glass objects, many of which are designed by independent artists. These candleholders were designed by mid century glass artist, Goran Warff (1933-2022), who is known worldwide for his nature-inspired designs and constant experimentation with clear glass and optical effects. Warff, ffrom the Island of Gotland, was very influenced by his early rural Scandinavian surroundings, combining it with his artistic training in architecture, fine art and later glassmaking. He was hired by Kosta in 1964, after making a name for himself during his apprenticeship in Pukeburg Glassworks. He followed Erik Hogland with bold experimentation and elegant designs. Although he lived and worked in Austrialia and the UK from 1974-1984, he reconnected with Kosta and worked with company (in its new form) until his death in 2022. Warff created glass pieces for museums, events, homes and other venues and has a number of pieces in museums and collections around the world. These unusual candleholders carry the essence of icicles and snow of his Scandinavian homeland and is a classic. Each one measures 2 3/4" high, 3 3/4" deep and wide. Along with the 3 "icicle feet" that these holders stand on, they also have 3 candle sockets on the flatter, ice-like tops that are 1/2" in diameter at the top and small at the bottom to accommodate both 1/2" 'small tapers' as well as 3/8" 'tiny tapers'. An interesting and sparkling set for a dinner settling or on a coffee table or shelf. less
