The poster has slipped in the frame over time, and the top edge is now visible, which has darkened slightly over time. Upon close inspection, the print shows some faint spots, subtle wrinkles, and one tear along the right side. The painting on the wooden frame is applied unevenly and is worn, revealing chips in the thin layer of plaster and some raw wood. less

Michel Ney was named the Marechal De France or Marshal of France in 1804 by Napoleon. He is celebrated in this original woodcut engraving, hand-colored at publication in Epinal, France. It was printed by Jean-Charles Pellerin circa 1800 and likely engraved by Francois Georgin. The lower left corner reads 'Propriete de Editeur (Depose).' The lower right corner reads 'EPINAL PELLERIN Imprimeur Libraries'
The military hero is poised on horseback in front of the Hotel des Invalides, which provided hospital care for wounded soldiers and housed 5,000 survivors of Napoleon's Army after his abdication in 1815. Today, it is a military museum where Napoleon's tomb rests.
The engraving is preserved behind glass in a handmade, decorative wood and plaster frame painted blue, red, and gold to compliment the artwork. The frame is likely from the 19th century as well, though the glass looks newer and was probably replaced at some point.
More about Michel Ney, the Marechal De France from Wikipedia:
Michel Ney (1769-1815) was a French military commander who fought in the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. On 19 May 1804, Ney received his marshal's baton, symbolic of his status as a Marshal of the Empire, the Napoleonic era's equivalent of Marshal of France. Nicknamed by Napoleon the 'Bravest of the Brave', he was given the victory titles 1st Prince de la Moskowa by Napoleon after the Battle of Borodino in reference to the Moscva River outside of Moscow, and also the 1st Duke of Elchingen after the Battle of Elchingen. He led the Battle of Waterloo from the frontline and was later executed by firing squad in 1815. less
