An unusually fine and delicate, mid-19th American figural needlepoint of a young girl reaching up on tiptoes towards a grape-laden vine on a tree bough that her mother is lowering towards her grasp. In the background there is a view towards an expansive landscape with a water-mill set by a river beneath a clouded blue sky. An elegantly composed and finely stitched piece of handwork that shows a natural and relaxed charm and retains much of the original color.
Displayed in the original gilt-wood, swept frame.
Framed dimensions: 14.25 H x 14 W x 1.75 D inches. less
