This elegant champagne bucket, or wine cooler, showcases the finest in French luxury barware. Crafted in the renowned Puiforcat style, it features decorative side handles and is beautifully decorated with a hand-etched coat of arms. The heraldic design includes a Bismark cross, an oval escutcheon crowned by a coronet, and flanked by wild men holding clubs, known as Wodewose—a medieval folk creature found in English and Northern European coats of arms.
This stunning piece makes an ideal addition to any bar or dining setting, and is a perfect gift for a wedding, anniversary, or special occasion. A provenance note states that this item was once part of the prestigious J.P. Morgan silver collection. Although unmarked, we have encountered other examples of this design bearing the Puiforcat hallmark. The Puiforcat firm, founded in 1820 by Émile Puiforcat in Paris, registered its hallmark in 1857. This piece may either predate that registration or its mark may have worn off over time. In the 1990s, Hermes acquired Puiforcat, further elevating the brand’s prestige.
