Both faience vessels are skillfully decorated with with icy blue crystalline clusters on a tan ground with a darker brown drip glaze accenting each rim and neck. The distinctive crystalline decoration is shown in a period advertisement from Ch. Fourmaintraux & Delassus (please see final image).

Both vases are in very good condition. The first measures 4.75 height x 3.75 in. diameter (at widest) and is marked 8138 / FRANCE / 26 by hand on base; the second measures 5 in. height x 3.5 in diameter (at widest) and marked 80[??] [obscured by glaze] / FRANCE / 26 by hand on base over an impressed circular FD / DESVRES mark

The Fourmaintraux Potteries represent a multi-generational family dynasty of earthenware and sandstone art pottery producers working in Desvres, France. As family members began their individual enterprises, company names were often hyphenated to distinguish one workshop/studio from another. Desvres was noted for high quality faience and Fourmaintraux pottieries received recognition and awards from the 1889 and 1900 Universal Exhibitions in Paris and in Chicago in 1893. Fourmaintraux-Delassus was awarded the Grand Prix at l’Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs In 1925. See less
