Peter Hurd (February 22, 1904 – July 9, 1984) was an American painter whose work is strongly associated with the people and landscapes of San Patricio, New Mexico, where he lived from the 1930s. He is equally acclaimed for his portraits and his western landscapes.

The two animals, perhaps dogs or coyote, are walking amongst a grassy landscape which resembles a field with colorful grasses under a light blue cloudy sky.
Is there a building on the upper right area at the top of the breezy grasses?
Hurd enjoyed painting people and landscapes below the sky. Hurd was a gifted colorist and this is evident in this painting showing subtle tones of green, yellow and blues.

This painting is believed to have been painted in New Mexico in the 1940-1950's time period.
In very good condition with minor surface wear.Light scratches. No holes or repairs.
The painting has not been cleaned or altered since in our possession.
