Lisa Larson was born in Sweden in 1931. In the 1950s she studied ceramics at the Gothenburg Werkkunstschule. She then worked for the Scandinavian porcelain manufacturer Gustavsberg for a long time. She later worked as a freelancer for Nordiska Kompaniet and Rosenthal AG. She has been working as artistic director for the Gustavsberger Ceramics Studio for almost three decades.
