Elizabeth Erlanger (1901-1975) a former student of Hans Hoffman and the former president of the American Society of Contemporary Artists, was an exceptional abstract expressionist. This work, composed of watercolor, gouache, pen and ink on paper, is an abstract view of Aspen. Colorado from a series completed in 1965. Unframed, paper on gesso panel.
Selected works included in collections of the Brandeis Museum, the Peabody, the Metropolitan Museum of Art (among others).
The National Association of Women Artists awards a prize in her name. less
