Comes from a rare art folio of the artist, created and published by Albert Skira in Geneva, Switzerland in early 1940s. Signed in the print: "Chagall". Printed on one side. Numbered at the lower right corner: 3. First copy is in excellent condition - minor edge wear, never framed. Second copy is in good condition for age - some age wear on edges on the front and back, no damage on the image on both sides, never framed. We show images of both copies. First copy sells first.

This canvas is a good illustration of the artist's way of juxtaposing concrete and abstract elements, linking them up together, not (as the Surrealists were later to do) by a process of 'automatism', but in terms of a logical awareness of a total reality including the present, past and future. less
