Georges Braque ( 1882 - 1963 ) was a major 20th Century French painter, collagist, printmaker, and sculptor. His most important contributions to the history of art were his alliance with fauvism, and the role he played in the development of Cubism. Closely associated with his colleague Pablo Picasso, their respective Cubist works were indistinguishable for many years. Working closely together, thus the invention of the Cubist style was a joint effort between Braque and Picasso. Artworks by Braque are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The Galerie Berggruen & Cie in Paris was founded in 1947 by art dealer and collector Heinz Berggruen ( 1914 - 2007 ). The gallery under the direction of Berggruen played a major role in the post World War II reception and dissemination of Modern Art, representing such influential artists as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Georges Braque, Joan Miro, Fernand Leger, and Paul Klee among many others. Berggruen cultivated one of the most important and valuable private collections of Modern European Art in The Twentieth Century.
The venerable famous printing house of Imprimerie Mourlot Paris was founded in 1852 by The Mourlot Family.
