This very rare vintage 1935 Mourlot fine art lithograph print Art Deco custom framed " L'Art Italien " Paris exhibition poster Sandro Botticelli " The Birth of Venus " 1482. is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The fine art lithograph print exhibition poster is published by The Au Petit Palais Museum Paris. Printed in France in 1935 in an unnumbered limited edition by Mourlot Imp. Paris, on the occasion of the " L'Art Italien " exhibition. It features an image detail from the iconic artwork " The Birth of Venus " originally created in 1482 by the Early Renaissance Italian painter Sandro Botticelli ( 1445 - 1510 ).
This is a rare opportunity for for Italian and French art fans and collectors both as this coveted image fine art Paris exhibition poster is long out of print and very scarce to find.
The exhibition " L'Art Italien " benefited from exceptional loans from Italy. The entire garden level of The Petit Palais was emptied of its permanent collections in order to install this monumental ensemble of Italian artworks. The greatest masterpieces were shown there, such as Botticelli's Birth of Venus, Raphael's Madonna of the Chair, Michelangelo's Holy Family, Titian's Venus of Urbino and Caravaggio's Bacchus. The Louvre, one of the most important contributors to the exhibition along with the museums of Florence, also lent art works of the Italian master artist Leonardo Da Vinci.
The Petit Palais is an art museum in The 8th Arrondissement of Paris, France. Built in 1900 for The Exposition Universelle, it now houses The City of Paris Museum of Fine Arts ( Musee Des Beaux Arts De La Ville De Paris ). The Petit Palais is located across from The Grand Palais on Avenue Nicolas II, the other facades of the building face The Seine and Avenue Des Champs Elysees.
The venerable famous printing house of Imprimerie Mourlot Paris was founded in 1852 by The Mourlot Family. It is known worldwide for its fine art lithography printing, and one of their most important contributions was to be the art poster. Mourlot became the place where posters were prepared and produced as works of art in their own right.
The 1930's marked the beginning of an important and long lasting partnership and collaboration between Atelier Mourlot and the French National Museums who together would continue to create many important art posters. An example of this same exhibition poster is held in the permanent archive collection of The Petit Palais, Museum of Fine Arts The City of Paris.
The rare out of print fine art lithograph print framed Art Deco French exhibition poster is printed on matte finish paper stock with subtle gold tone metallic ink details. It measures 21 7/8" W X 30 1/4" H X 1 1/2" D.
It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a gold leaf subtle burnished finish Contemporary Modern museum box style wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age, very light signs of handling, and very light minor surface wear.
