This striking 12-inch-tall art glass vase is a masterful creation by the renowned glass artist Robert Eickholt, signed and dated 2001. Hand-blown with exceptional craftsmanship, the vase features a stunning palette of iridescent blues, blacks, grays, and yellows, creating a mesmerizing interplay of color and texture that draws the eye from every angle.
The vase boasts an elegant chalice-shaped silhouette, with a wide, slightly splayed smooth lip that gently tapers down into a subtly bulging stem, which seamlessly transitions into a round base.
The base color of the vase is a deep, blue-tinged black glass, creating a dramatic, nocturnal backdrop that enhances the intricate designs that adorn its surface. Encircling the vase are rounded glass motifs, each framed by thick blue outer layers that enclose their grayish-white inner layers. These inner layers are decorated with vertical line patterns, adding a sense of movement and texture that further heightens the sense of depth and fluidity. At the heart of each motif is a vibrant yellow circle, some with short, dangling vertical tentacles—an evocative design reminiscent of the graceful forms of bioluminescent jellyfish or sea anemones. Some of these motifs appear as if viewed from above, while others seem seen from below, further adding to the piece's dynamic composition.
Interwoven between these organic shapes are undulating, wavy lines in soft shades of gray, reminiscent of seaweed gently rising from the ocean floor. These fluid lines enhance the vase’s aquatic theme, capturing the motion and rhythm of an underwater scene.
This vase is much more than a functional object—it is a sculptural work of art that beautifully captures the essence of aquatic life and the wonders of the natural world. Its vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and graceful form make it a captivating statement piece, perfect for adding elegance and intrigue to any collection. less
