The Mea Culpa series is more about feeling than a specific vision. I attempt to use mark-making, color, and surface to explore the emotions I need to convey. I never know when they will be finished until that moment when they resonate with me.
These pieces are created with oil pastel on a smooth paper. The material is very important to me. By eliminating the brush, I use the oil pastel and my fingers to lay down the color and manipulate it on the surface. The modeling process is important in transferring the desired emotion. The physicality of my approach ranges from large, rough movements to thin, delicate touches.
This oil on paper piece is 10 x 8 vertical. The paper the image is on is 17 x 14. This piece can be framed at 17 x 14 with white space around the image, or it can be trimmed to the desired frame size leaving some or no white border.
The paper is 100% acid-free heavyweight archival paper.
This piece is not framed.
