This vintage, hand-carved and painted wood horse has style in spades. Featuring rich earthen hues of terracotta, black and sand, he's about as regal and rich-looking as is possible to be. I love the intricate and stylistic design throughout and his wood flare of a tail.
This wood horse is circa 1920s and likely of North African descent. A real work of art and a testament to craftsmanship.
Wood horse sculpture stands 24" tall, 29" wide and 7" deep. He did not stand on his own when we found him, so he's been added to a small and discreet wood base for better display. The base is currently raw wood in the same hues as his hooves but could easily be painted black or dark stained ... to match your preference.
He has dowel rod holes in his underbelly but the original base and stand were not found with him. His tail removes for easier shipping and the dowels for his legs and head have all been cleaned up and reattached by a professional. He shows some small gaps near connecting joints (as pictured), but all in all, in original condition and a really unique and stunning piece.
So much subtle drama in this piece. An eye-catcher and attention-grabber for sure. Very unusual in his design.
Pairs well with an ornate wood mantle and collection international artworks.
