Wonderful and beautifully rendered 1970s-early 1980s paper mache macaw/parrot on perch in vibrant colors--this one is a keeper! Made of paper mache with a shiny lacquered finish, the parrot has been hand painted with green patterned body feathering, a yellow beak with red and blue head feathers, and a long multi-color striped tail. The wings have even more detail-yellow and orange teardrops on the upper wing and yellow and orange feather tips. Our parrot sits firmly on his/her silver arched perch with brown legs and black talons, and keeps a beady eye on everything near and far. The perch has a round keyhole for hanging. So fun! Made in Mexico, signed AA on under the tail.
Body measures approximately 5" w x 16 1/4" h x 3 1/2"d; perch is 12" w x 13 3/4" h (with opening for hanging) x 5/16" d. Overall, the bird on the perch measures approximately 21" h.
Condition is consistent with age and use. There is loss of paint on the perch, (gives it a vintage look) and slight loss on the tail, claws and hole for perching, and one small scratch on the body. It appears some of the paint loss by the feet and perch hole has been recolored. Does not affect display or use! Please see pictures for detail and condition.
