For the past thirty years, Sondra Mayer has been deeply involved in the field of art. Beginning as an artist/printmaker, she broadened her activities to include teaching etching techniques to other artists, appraising art collections for insurance and donative purposes and writing articles on art for such local publications as Anton Community Newspapers, The Great Neck Record, Sunstorm, Long Island Heritage, and The World and I, a national magazine. In 1978, Sondra Mayer was honored with a MacDowell Colony Fellowship. She has been listed in several editions of Who's Who in American Art, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in American Women. Her work is illustrated in Intaglio Printmaking Techniques by Ruth Leaf. Ms. Mayer has been associate director of a gallery, top sales executive for Petersburg Press and a principal in several art ventures. At present, she is a private art dealer with a global clientele, marketing high-level, museum-quality, contemporary and modern American and European art in all media. Mayer's activities branched out to other areas including teaching intaglio etching techniques to other artists at the Ruth Leaf Studio in Douglaston. Several of Mayer's designs were produced as jewelry and greeting cards by the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Tiffany's. In 1978, Sondra Mayer was honored with a MacDowell Colony Fellowship. less
