It may be … more This is a British Chippendale or George III open armchair in mahogany with a rich dark finish. It may be English or Irish. It is likely late 18th or early 19th century. This is a special chair - beautifully proportioned with a unique and delicately carved ribbon-like back splat. Additional ornamentation on the legs and arms along with the front cabriole legs and claw in ball feet are classic features of this style of antique chair. The silk upholstered seat features a red and silver-gray pattern, but is easily lifted out for a change in fabric.
