These six delicately hand-enameled coffee cups and saucers were produced by Minton's in 1891, according to the marks. They are decorated in an Aesthetic Movement pattern, "Minton Rose"; #A4807, which was in production from 1867 to 1912. This is the pattern which Minton chose to display at the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1867.
The decoration of cartouches, swags and sprays of pink cabbage roses was all carefully painted by hand. The cups are all in wonderful condition, despite being thin as an eggshell. They spent the last century proudly displayed in a lovely Cape Cod estate; the home of the late Josiah K. Lilly III and his wife, Josephine M. Lilly.
