Born in the northeastern United States, likely New York or Pennsylvania, handmade and used by the country farmers and occasionally old general stores, solid wood construction, simplistic utilitarian box on stand form, having a large rectangular chest with overhanging hinged lid lift-top, opening to reveal a large, spacious open interior, lockable with simple patinated latch, rising on four long slender, sturdy legs.

As attractive as it is functional and flexible, with light, mellow wood grain, nicely aged warm, rustic, and naturally distressed patina, having lots of antique character and depth.
