A scarce, large and most impressive European antique urn-form mirrored wooden statue.
Late 19th century, most likely Italian, possibly French, hand carved, painted and gilded solid wood, exceptionally executed in luxurious Roman Neo-classical inspired King Louis XVI taste, tall and narrow, the monumental over three one-sided vasi-urn form panel with small circular cutout fitted with a mirror, flanked by garland swag carvings, surmounted by rounded finial, rising on tapering standard, with simple integral tripartite stand base. circa 1870
A truly rare and a bit unusual example, almost certainly a one-of-a-kind custom commission, likely originating as a religious Catholic altar reliquary, with the round mirror plate later added in replace of the church's relic; or less likely but possibly an interior architectural element, pocket watch holder or even an early trade sign.
