Frank Stella ( 1936 - 2024 ) is an American painter, sculptor, and printmaker noted for his work in the areas of Minimalism and Post-Painterly Abstraction. Working since the 1950's, Stella has created a Modernist style Abstraction and singular creative voice that is unique unto himself. He is heralded for creating Abstract paintings that bear no pictorial illusions of psychological or metaphysical references in 20th Century Art. Artworks by Stella are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The Lincoln Center Poster Collection and The Albert A. List Foundation began a creative program in 1962 of special poster works of art commissioned for festivals and special events at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. The fine art posters have heralded the opening of each theater building at Lincoln Center, and for such festivals as Mostly Mozart, Newport Jazz, and The New York Film Festival.
The Lincoln Center Poster Program has collaborated with the most admired and respected Contemporary artists of our time collaborating together to create artworks that have become highly desirable and award winning works of art in their own right. Many of the posters have been exhibited internationally and are included in the collections of important museums worldwide. An example of this Frank Stella 1967 Lincoln Center Festival poster is held in the archive of The Museum of Modern Art, New York.
The Mid Century Modernist extra large format framed poster print measures 30" W X 44 3/4" H X 1" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern charcoal pewter gray satin finish metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent condition. The poster print is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age, light to moderate signs of handling, and some light to moderate visible surface wear.
