An icon of 1970s radical and early postmodern Italian design, the Ariante fan takes the normally boring square box fan to new design heights. With 45 degree diagonal slats on a bright red plastic case, an ingenious chrome stand for adjusting the fan's angle, a black cord, and dark fan blades, this 1973 design by Italian powerhouse Marco Zanuso for Vortice Elettrosociali is a masterclass in the use of contrast and has a clean and sophisticated look. This fan is found in the MoMA permanent collection and Zanuso won the Compasso d'Oro award for this design in 1979.
In good vintage condition with no discernible wear, but it has a European power plug and has not been tested in the U.S.. On/off switch on the rear of the fan and original label on underside.
