1800's Victorian Gutta-percha Hand Mirror
The stunning hand mirror is made from gutta-percha and features rich design with sea shell and floral patterns. This type of plastic is a mixture of resins from Malaysian trees and sometimes from other materials. The resin was cast into molds to form the intricately carved bas relief. The handle shows old repair but looks sturdy. The beveled mirror shows aging and has small imperfections, but has no chips or cracks. Very elegant piece.
Approximate measurements: 10 1/2" in L, 5 3/8" in W, 1/2" in H
