Chinese Star God Fuxing scroll, colored inks on paper, mounted on a plain, tan, paper ten and ji with a gold border on two vertical esges, signed, with nine, red, seal marks and one inscription on the upper left in black kaishu script. The outer cover is a shimmering, light and dark copper, silk brocade in a pine branches with circular medallions pattern . The image size is 19.5" wide x 35.125" high. With a white cord makio and kakio at the top and black jikusaki at the bottom. Circa early Republic of China era, no later than mid century.
A masterfully drawn depiction of the Chinese Star God, Fuxing, (happiness, good fortune) attending by two, small demon protectors, one holding a parasol over Fuxing and one holding a wrapped scroll of the law. less
