A pair of Chinese framed porcelain Buddhist temple plaques of standing Kuan Yin, a near pair of finely drawn depictions of Kuan Yin, in black and gold, both standing on a lotus flower and pod, among the clouds, both wearing the crown of Amitahba, earrings, necklaces, wrist bracelets and long flowing robes, displaying the urna, the ushnisha and long earlobes. The plaque on the right shows Kuan Yin with her right hand in jnana mudra, holding the water of life, and her left hand in vitarka mudra, holding the willow branch. The plaque on the right shows Kuan Yin holding a double lotus bud, Ru Yi sceptre with both hands in vitarka mudra. All the artwork is done in fine, gilt, line drawing on a black ground with a lattice of of hexagons and quatrefoils. Both plaques are signed, with two seal marks at the lower left with two larger seal marks above. The plaques art mounted in their original, Chinese, hongmu frames, decorated with finely carved, archaic dragons and made with fine Chinese joinery, with original Chinese bronze hanger. The back is intact and removable. Circa Republic of China era or earlier.
