A matched pair of Chinese framed porcelain plaques of red crowned cranes, a finely caarved and detailed depiction of a two plaques of male and female nesting, red crowned cranes, in red and gold, perched at their nest under a gnarled old plum tree amid bamboo, pines and other bushes, on the bank of a rushing stream, all in finely carved, gilt line drawing on a deep red ground. Signed, with two large and two small seal marks. Mounted in its original, Chinese, hongmu frame, made with fine Chinese joinery, finely carved in a bamboo motif, with original Chinese bronze hanger. The back is intact and removable. Circa Republic of China era or earlier.
