Born during the third quarter … more A fine quality, exquisitely handcrafted, antique English games / sewing table finished in Regency taste. Born during the third quarter of the 19th century, featuring stunning burr walnut, delicate marquetry, banding inlay and intricate checkered cross-banded inlay throughout. Having a chess / checkers board parquetry inlay, swivel hinged top opening to inset gilt tooled heavily embossed green leather playing surface, bordered by extra fine cribbage board inlay, lifting the top reveals a fitted interior with original lining, divided storage, with large deep compartment at center in the tapered base with neoclassical marquetry urn motif, well carved scrolled legs, ending on casters. Truly a superb Victorian era piece with fine details, elegant style and luxurious craftsmanship. England, circa 1860s.
