The inverted column stems rise from square incurved pyramidal bases, a simply classic design. Circa: (1785-1800).

One base differs slightly in color due to the metal content and does not detract from their charm, otherwise these period pieces are in excellent condition with normal wear commensurate with age and use. This pair comes from a beautiful collection of period English candlesticks and they are indeed very characteristic of English quality craftsmanship, still prevalent at the end of the 18th century.
