An Asterisk Clock designed in the office of George Nelson by Irving Harper, a prolific, innovative, and creative designer/artist in his own right. Many of George Nelson's most iconic designs were actually executed by Irving Harper, including most of the clocks, the Marshmallow Sofa, and the Coconut Chair to name only a few. George Nelson Associates created the first clocks for Howard Miller in 1947. It is estimated that there are over 150 designs. The first creation was "Clock 4755" (Ball Clock). All clocks were electrical. Electrical wall clocks were available with a cord and plug or as a "Chronopak" which mounted in a standard outlet box. Howard Miller discontinued the line in the 1980s. Vitra picked up the line again in the 1990s. The original clock designs were simply given numbers by Howard Miller. The Asterisk Clock 2213 was designed in 1964 and was originally available in black or white although other colors were added later. This clock has its original electrical cord. The body of the clock is in near excellent Vintage Condition while the paint on the hour hand is missing in one spot from years of friction from the minute hand. Otherwise it is in excellent vintage condition.
