One original watercolor on paper painting by Owen Baxter Morgan, British artist 1873-1920, "Springtime near Amberley" scene of a flock of sheep grazing near a tree alongside a meandering stream, a shepherd sitting and watching, 10 1/4" x 17 1/2", signed O. Baxter Morgan 1903 in the lower left corner front, inscribed on reverse - Springtime near Amberley. CA number 3956, CA purchased summer 2024 from an English auction house.
The painting has been cleaned of surface dirt.
The work has been re-matted in 8 ply Antique White Museum matboard, lined, Museum Glass and backing, framed in 1" Abe Munn antiqued gold Whistler reproduction moulding.
The artist was the son of British artist Alfred Morgan. He studied at The Royal Academy Schools from 1893 to 1898. He exhibited works at The Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and The Royal Academy.
