A Really is a Great Looking - Very Rare & Unusual Antique American Stoneware Pickle Crock. Circa Very Late 19th Century. NICE SMALL VERY DECORATIVE SIZE! - Appears to be in the Approx. 1/2 Gallon or 2 Quarts. Back in the Day These Types of Company Advertising - Promotional Crocks were Either on Loan or Sometimes Given to Customers from Retail Merchants such as Grocery Stores Etc. They Could be Taken Home and then Reused - Refilled when Needed. It has a Classic American Greige Color Salt Glaze Exterior with Dark Brown / Ox Blood Red Color Glazed Interior. It has Very Fine Detailed Embossed Decorated Features Beautifully Embellished with Deep Blue Color Highlights. The Front Advertises H.J. HEINZ Co. PICKLING & PRESERVING WORKS in PITTSBURG - Can you Say Ketchup!. Note Also the Embossed "Keystone" Pennsylvania State Emblem. The Upper Rim and Base are Embossed with a Classic Late Victorian Style Repeating Pattern. It is Not Signed by the Maker but it can Easily be Attributed to the Well Known and Documented "WHITES UTICA" Stoneware Company in New York.
