This small rectangular brown box will be a great accent on a coffee table, dressing table, or on a bookshelf. It is created from wood and stands on four small wooden legs. (The wood is very light.) It has a gold hinged lid that is attached to the back. The top of the box features a blue decorative ship painting with white sails. We've affectionately named it the "Pirate Ship" box. The painting on the top appears to be applied and then lacquered on similar to how Modge Podge is used. The interior of the box has a small wooden piece across the back on the top for perhaps holding letters or other small pieces. We've been told that this might have been a stamp box for holding stamps or even a box for holding cigars or jewelry. The bottom is signed in pencil with, "Charles Kirkland".
