1737 Hanoverian pattern sterling silver tablespoon by Joseph Smith I, London. George II period. Crest obverse. The earliest known silversmith at Clerkenwell Close, called shop "Ye Goldsmiths Company" in 1728. Rubbed male Gryphon crest with a great corkscrew tail (females have wings). Demi-gryphon rampant. 2.40 troy oz.
