Here we have a beautiful vintage ebonized French Regency style oval dining table. It comes with three matching 16" leaves which extend the table to 100" long. Gorgeous fluted legs, wonderful carved/beaded apron trim and parcel gilt detailing. The steel Watertown slides work very well.
Although the table is styled after a French Louis XVI Maison Jansen design it was made in America during the height of the Hollywood Glam era, late 1950's to early 60's.
PLEASE NOTE: The black lacquer finish is all original. Many decades of use and happy memories are showing their wear. Although the lacquer is quite thick, it unfortunately it does have some chips that go through to the wood. Plenty of surface wear, dents and dings as would be expected. Two of the leaves have dented corners. One index peg on one leaf is broken which could be replaced. There is general wear to the leaves from storage. None of this affects their use, but please examine the photos carefully and feel free to ask any questions.
Most of the wear is confined to the top surface of the table which could be touched up and polished if this kind of patina bothers you. I'm selling as is because I happen to adore it just the way it is. A very charming and usable table. I find no maker's mark, only incised single and double letters....thanks for looking! less
