The walnut has been suitably stained. Some nicks, scratches and scrapes typical for 100-year-old chairs. There are old pinholes from woodworm. However, they have been professionally eradicated, and the chairs remain sturdy. The chairs were not constructed with screws or nails. Rather, you can see the wooden dowels. They are all hand carved from that period. However, there are tack marks from the reupholstery. There are also visible splinters on the backs caused by an unfortunate upholstery job. The fabric is still in good condition. Due to the period, the chairs are low, in height, so they may not be comfortable for those that are tall. less
