Brazil is the beef industry capital of the world of which cowhides are a byproduct. Chromium tanning is the best quality for all hair on hide and smooth leather. Cows are harvested for meat or die of natural causes. They are not harvested for the hide only. During the World Wars, people migrated to South America for safety. Among their prized possessions, they took their animals to survive. For multiple generations, various breeds from many countries have cross bred, thus the uniqueness of the hair on hides we see today.

There are no two hides exactly alike. Breeds will be similar. Caring for a cowhide is very simple. The hides natural oils are stain resistant. Spills simply clean up with blotting the spill followed by soap and water. Vacuum sweeping or the current Rumba is safe as well. Long hair hides are a winter harvest. Short hair is a summer harvest. less
