Extremely rare, museum-quality four-strand square pretzel Lounge chair was designed by Paul T. Frankl in 1934 using the highest-quality rattan poles and reeds available and restored by rattan experts to ensure structural integrity and longevity and created for one of Frankl’s elite Hollywood clients.
Made of steam-bent rattan poles, the sofa features Frankl’s hallmark decorative wicker woven wrappings of rattan strips. The piece comes from a home Frankl designed in Los Angeles in the mid-to-late 1930s.
This is in its original condition from 1934, with a little touch up but has remained in its original condition due to its age and significance.
This four-strand Rattan lounge is photographed in Paul T Frankl's book "Space for Living Creative Interior Decoration and Design 1st ed [Hardcover] " Image Fig #121. This book is included with your purchase. Also in Paul T. Frankl's Autobiography fig #53 page 148 (See Last 2 photos for reference)
