A large French art deco wall sconce in clear frosted molded-pressed glass. Made around 1925-1930 by the Paris based company of the famous glass designer Marius Sabino. A large half bowl in very thick molded-pressed glass is held by a nickel-plated brass mount. the shade is frosted on the outside with hand-polished glossy highlights giving it a vivid appearance. The original mounting is marked "Sabino Paris made in France". And the shade is signed twice on the rim: "Sabino 4651 Paris". This model #4651 was made with one signature as a bowl for a Pendant light. The bowls meant for sconces were done with two signatures, so that when it was cut in two halves both sconces would have a signature. In this case the employer who saw the bowl did not care much, ending up both signatures on one half.
The sconce is 16,5 inches (42 cm) wide. It is 9"(23 cm) deep and 5,6" (14 cm) high. It has a total weight of 4,15 kilo! It is in excellent condition. The sconce is newly wired and holds two American candelabra base sockets.
