Description: A gorgeous, exquisitely crafted, antique Louis XV style mahogany inlaid chest ornamented with chiseled and gilded bronze throughout. Handcrafted in … more A gorgeous, exquisitely crafted, antique Louis XV style mahogany inlaid chest ornamented with chiseled and gilded bronze throughout. Handcrafted in France during the early 20th century (possibly late 19th c.) having serpentine shaped marble top with molded edge, above the bombe form parquetry / marquetry mahogany case, fitted with two dovetailed drawers, each having intricate cross-banding inlay and ornate ormolu escutcheon at center, the drawers opening thanks to the original scrolled gilt bronze pulls, flanked by and above the highly decorative fine gilt bronze ormolu mounts, rising on short cabriole legs, the front ending in bronze sabots. It's smaller stature allows for many uses, such as a bedroom commode, dresser, bedside as a large nightstand, a stunning entry or console table, a side table, server, sideboard, or credenza.
