With generous touches of burnt orange and gilded details, these large vintage covered jars are finely decorated on both sides in the Famille Rose style, with upswept handles, detailed floral and foliate motifs with roses passionflower and bits of rockery. Most notable are the three dimensional persimmon colored husk garlands, water leaf and beading, along with the oval frames that give structure and heft to the decoration. Probably late 20th century, commissioned by Chelsea House, accurately in the style of ca. 1785 porcelain urns. Lids come off, would need inserts for use as vases. Very good quality and condition, with only very slight wear to the gilding, typical artisanal irregularities and differences.
