Exceptional piece of pottery by Francis Pope for Royal Doulton, circa 1900 (+/-). Pope worked for the company from 1880-1925.
Wheel thrown stoneware vase of cylindrical form, featuring a hand carved design of intertwined ribbons accented with organic leafy shapes. This piece is finished with classic arts & crafts glaze colors of grey and muted blues. A perfect addition to any Mission decor.
Measures 12.5"x 5". In excellent condition, no chips or cracks. Has production variations. Extensively marked to foot, including the artist's incised initials as well as a Sotheby's label from the Harriman Judd collection of British pottery, sold by Sotheby’s (Sale #7594, Jan 22, 2001), which included this vase. less
