The Early American Silver Makers adopted the Coin Silver Standard up until around the Late 1860s to Early 1870s at which point in time they started to adopt the Sterling Silver Standard. American Coin Silver has a 90% - 900/1000 Silver Content, and Sterling Silver has a slightly higher 92.5% - 925/1000 Silver Content. Pure Silver is 99.9% Pure - That is to say that it Contains No Other Alloy Metals. Some Pieces of American Coin Silver items that were produced were marked "Coin" as in This Instance. It should be Noted that many of the other Coin Silver pieces that were produced during that period Have No Silver Mark At All. Once the Sterling Standard took hold the vast majority of the Silver Pieces that were produced by Numerous American Silver Companies were marked "Sterling". All of the Unmarked American Silver Pieces that I Sell on Chairish are Professionally Tested and are Absolutely Guaranteed to Have the Silver Content as Stated.
