Artfully handcrafted Nantucket-style sewing basket using traditional methods and materials. Sitting atop a traditional wooden base, the basket was handwoven using rattan and cane weavers and splints in an over and under tight weave, lovely! Bentwood swivel handle is attached to the bentwood rim which is finished with diagonal cane lashing. The interior is fully lined; there are four pockets to store sewing accoutrements or embroidery items with a drawstring tie to keep things secure. This beauty measures 14½” high with handle up, with handle down 7¼”; width/depth 11½; interior 6” x 10½” x 10½” H/W/D; weight 1 lb. 2 oz. Colors are a mixture of honey, pale amber and tan naturally aged rattan and cane; blonde bentwood loop handle; interior lining is a dusty tan hue. Unknown maker or country of origin. In excellent condition with minimal age-appropriate wear (see photo 10 for light scratches on bottom); one indiscernible spot on the interior liner (see photo 9) that does not affect its beauty or utility.
