- This is the first time we have had this print. Purchased by us in Paris. This is a 1945 vintage … more This is the first time we have had this print. Purchased by us in Paris. This is a 1945 vintage fashion print for a haute couture Pierre Balmain design. Wonderful flowing full skirt with a ribbed cinched bodice with sweatheart styling. The ribboned garland cuts diagonally and comliments the small spray held in the model's hand. Illustrated and signed by Rene Gruau, the international fashion illustrator known for his highly stylized fashion illustration and advertising art. Gruau's breathtaking use of bold color and strong graphic lines reflect his creataive genius. Note the fluidity of his line and his dramatic use of shadowing and painterly textured background. Also, the dress hemline extends into the frame. These are characteric Gruau details. This print is in excellent, clean condition. 7.5 x 9.5 inches in size. Comes matted in neutral tone 16 x 20 inch custom mat ready for standard size frame. Please allow time for custom matting. less
